From Runway to Red Carpet

The best break from Fashion Week footage is Emmy Red Carpet footage!  My favorite dress was the Monique Lhuillier worn by Julia Louis Dreyfus.  It was all blingy (I know that's not a real word), yet simple and elegant!  Just the type of style I like!  It also seems like that is the best way to go for the Emmys and Oscars.  The time to take risks are Grammy and Tony Awards nights.  My other favorite looks are below.  My television watching is so limited that I actually had to research some of these actresses on IMDb! So, the show references in the picture captions are mostly for me!

Julia Louis Dreyfus in Monique Lhuillier

Heidi Klum in Atelier Versace

"Ms Kerry, Baby!"  Kerry Washington in Marchesa

Michelle Dockery of Downton Abbey in Prada

Leslie Mann in J. Mendel (I don't recognize any of her work, but she took a risk that works!)

Tina Fey does glam so well! Narciso Rodriguez

Linda Cardellini in Donna Karan Atelier

...and honorable mention...
I love Connie Britton, I love the show, Nashville, and I love Naeem Khan, so I really want to love this look but something is a bit off for me! Maybe it would work better at a winter event; or the CMAs...

Anna Sui

Anna Sui's inspiration came from - according to the style.com review - the Pre-Raphaelites of Victorian England.  Since I clearly missed that lesson in Art History class, I saw haute hippy meets boho chic meets updated fairy tales! You know - Snow White and the Hot Huntsman (that's the name of the movie in my mind!), Ever After, The Brothers Grimm...

At first, I thought that these pieces were intriguing to look at and that I wouldn't find anything that I would actually love to own.  Usually, this is how I choose my favorite picks from the runway shows and I thought I'd have a slightly different lyst this time.  However, as I perused the show, I totally decided that there were pieces in this collection that I would love to own and would wear in a heartbeat.  The Anna Sui show also further enabled my fascination with the adorable Liu Wen.  I love how she smiles! It's like she actually likes her job - imagine that!  I do also have to admit that I did not love the men's pieces, but I do like how Anna Sui showed garments for men as well as women.  See my favorites below...

This look isn't really one of my picks, but I love that Liu Wen is always smiling!

Liu's not smiling!  I didn't recognize her! Still a super cute girl!

As always, thanks to style.com for the awesome coverage!

Diane von Furstenberg

So I did not love every piece of the DVF show, but I did love most of it! She had lots of variety and the surprise showstopper, the iconic Naomi Campbell was the perfect icing on the cake.  It was also super cool that she wore one of the pieces when she came out to take her bow.
This is probably done all the time (Anna Sui did this at her show, too) but this is the first time I actually noticed it!

I love that Liu Wen always has a lovely smile on the runway!

The showstopper! Naomi should have been in this!

NAOMI!  I don't really like the dress, but it's NAOMI!!!

The one and only...DIANE VON FURSTENBERG!

As always, many thanks to style.com for their amazing coverage!

Monique Lhuillier

Hardly ever one to disappoint; Monique Lhuillier's color theme included bright pinks and oranges with some ethereal wispy pieces in dreamy eggshells and golds.  The last couple of pieces presented - including the last dress in my wysh lyst included a surprise burst of maroon and even took my breath away.

I'm a sucker for a short dress - or are those shorts? Is that a onsie???  Mmmm...

I'm s sucker for a great onsie, too...

Breathtaking, nes pa?

Many thanks to style.com for their great coverage!

It's Fashion Week! Jason Wu!

It's fashion week and I'm living on style.com looking through their slideshows!  I have to say I am not swooning this year - it's looking like a bad season of Project Runway so far. The garments look like they've just been thrown together at the last minute. So disappointing! I won't say what collections I've already browsed...

Finally, I found a couple of nice pieces presented by Mr. Jason Wu.  Just 3 great pieces out of 45, though!  That's not a good percentage.

I feel like continuing and looking some more now!  I will press forward believing I will find lots of pieces that will take my breath away and about which I can write good things!
